4 weeks of intense, focused work on trumpet mechanics and fundamentals

• Weekly performance coachings in a studio class setting (everyone will have time to play each week); topics will vary

• 2-3 group warm ups per week

• 4 or more group classes on:

  • Excerpts

  • Etudes

  • Solos

  • Fundamentals like Clarke etudes

• Two private lessons:

  • One near the beginning of the course to make sure you get the most of the experience.

  • Another near the course end, to give you the tools and plan to continue the improvement on your own.

• At least one weekly lecture from me on topics like  performance anxiety, audition prep, fundamentals, etc.

• One of my favorite tools: ”One-minute check-ins”—each student can send short videos or questions for short feedback; I reply in video form with demos and tailored feedback

• Practice Routine Workshop, where I help each person build their own routine suited for their career aspirations

• One customized report for each person that suggests long- and short-term work to get the most out of the TMC experience

My goal is to help you understand the balance between mechanics and musicianship. You’ll finally have the tools you need to bring your artistry to each and every performance.

• Daily, one-minute practice aid videos every day for the rest of the summer

• Weekly deep-dive videos on select topics for the rest of the summer

• Classes with at least three world-class experts (names to be announced)

I’m more interested in your attitude than in your playing level. Most TMC students will be college-age or older. I’m willing to accept motivated high school students and serious amateurs.

I’ll be looking for trumpet players who are:

• Advanced-level players

• Curious

• Open to collaboration

• Positive and supportive to their peers

• Interested in getting more out of every practice session

• Instead of having to move your whole life to a different location, you can attend TMC from home; actually, you can attend TMC and a festival at the same time!

• You get more personalized attention than you would at most festivals or in music school; I work hard to give you specific recommendations for your individual needs.

• You’ll meet and work with a group of like-minded, intellectually curious musicians who will cheer for your success as much as for their own.

• In school or at festivals, there’s so much going on that it’s hard to focus; for the first time, you can take the opportunity to focus on the most important aspects of your playing while working with the world’s foremost embouchure experts.

• If you can’t attend a class, you can send me a recording and I’ll get back to you with feedback.

• You’ll leave TMC with a personalized practice and improvement plan. You’ll know EXACTLY what to practice this summer, and how to keep your momentum going when we’re done.

• Thanks to the online nature of this course, you don’t have to pay for room and board. Additionally, this is not a one-time experience—most of our materials are recorded, so you can reuse them and benefit from them for years.

• The four week experience, plus years of access to the recorded content, is $3200.

• I pack more information into this course than most people get in several years of college.
